Notes from yesterday’s Film Association meeting:
1) BANANA
The students who attended decided that it might be fun to have a weekly film challenge on a theme–totally no pressure, but the idea that every MFA meeting might open with people presenting stuff they made on that week’s theme. It could be a few seconds of footage, it could be a storyboard, could be a written-up film treatment idea, could be a drawing: just some artistic response.
This week’s theme is BANANA.
Next week, Thursday at 4:30, we will just meet briefly to see if anybody made anything (er, I admit I have an idea). Meeting times continue to be at 4:30 on Thursdays.
2) PLEASE VOTE ON WORKSHOP TIMES
The week after next, we’d like to start our first workshops, but we wanted to check whether Thursday 4:30 works for everybody.
Here is a choice of other times:
a) Tuesday 8 – 9 PM
b) Thursday 4:30 – 5:30
c) Thursday 5:30 – 6:30
d) Thursday 6:30 – 7:30
e) Thursday 7:30 – 8:30
f) Thursday 8:30 – 9:30
Could you please hit reply and tell me which of those times work for you, and which works best for you?
Our first film workshop will be on the subject of PRE-PRODUCTION. Joe Nash will bring some materials, but we also ask for you to come and share your tips, expertise, and anxieties on: Story Treatment/Concept, Scripts and Storyboarding, making shot lists, scouting for locations, and/or preparing to shoot. If you have examples of any of these materials that you would be willing to share, please bring them: one of our goals this semester is to collect examples and models for future students for reference.
I’ll confirm the date/time once I’ve gotten your reply: we’ll make it at the time most people can come.
3) HARD DRIVE
The MFA now has its own club hard drive! Will we use it for good or for evil?? Cone and find out!!
4) LOGO CONTEST
We need a logo for the MFA, and the students at yesterday’s meeting decided we should make it a challenge. So–have any artistic talent? Design a logo for the Muhlenberg Film Association!! Deadline TBA!
5) REMINDER: Tom Gunning will be speaking Wed, Feb 7th in the recital hall at 7 PM!
6) REMINDER: It looks like the Friday 13th horror film festival is a go; please start thinking about your favorite terrifying films.
